The National Education Society was established in 1946 by the leading citizens of Shivamogga, consisting of many freedom fighters with the main objective of serving the cause of education for the children of Malnad District. The Society is a Registered body which is managed by an Executive Committee elected by the General Body. Late Mr. H.S. Rudrappa, Ex-minister of Karnataka Government was the founder President and Late Mr. S.V. Krishnamurthy Rao, Ex-deputy Chairman of RajyaSabha and Ex-Deputy Speaker of LokaSabha, Late Mr. S.R. NagappaShetty, Ex-MLA, were the founder Secretaries who have rendered yeoman service in the field of education. Late Mr. Jayathirthachar, an eminent educationist and leading advocate, Late Mr.P. Murudappa, True Gandhian and leading advocate, Late Mr. H.R. RanganathaRao, Senior Advocate, Late Mr.MahishiNarasimha Murthy, Scholar and leading advocate, Late Mr. Basappa Patel, Ex-Member of Representative Assembly, and Late Sri D.S. Dinkar, Freedom Fighter, Sri. G. Nanjundappa, Senior Advocate, served as Presidents after Mr. H.S. Rudrappa.National Residential School is managed by the National Education Society(Regd) Shivamogga.
