B. Patel Vidyalaya was started in the name of Shri Ishwarbhai B. Patel (Elecon Industries). The school started in Gujarati Medium with 130 students in 1958 under the name of "I. B. Patel Vidyalaya". With growing strength and further demand, a separate school for girls was started in the year 1960-61 in the name of Shri Byramjee Jeejeebhoy and was named as "Sir B.J. Girls School".
