Headstart was established as a nursery and primary school in 1995 by Mrs. Sudha Mahesh. In the 22 years since then, the institution has grown into HLC International – one of India's top schools, offering quality education that shapes the lives of bright young children at all grade levels. HLC International is also one of the first Ashoka Changemaker schools in the country. At HLC, we have pioneered a new individualized learning program that emphasizes skill-based learning, and uses a wide range of teaching methods – debates, discussions, role-play, simulations and modeling techniques – all of which engage children fully in learning by experience. HLC’s history has been one of continuous growth; back in 1995, we began as Headstart Nursery and Primary school. Since that time, we’ve reimagined learning and learning environments significantly. In 2009, we rebranded ourselves as HLC International and relocated to Karanai, near Shollinganallur (off OMR) offering the IGCSE syllabus of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE).
