Where Does the Globe Stand on the Rights of Children to an Education?

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Do you know what UNICEF’s mantra is in regards to children’s education? It is ‘Every child has a right to learn’. Meaning, no matter where the child is around the globe, he has a right to learn. His creed, cast, nationality, religion are of no play when it comes to receiving an education. The basic fundamental of a child’s upbringing depends on education. Which is why, numerous programs, law bills and aids are invested to promote children’s education.

According to UNICEF’s research analysis, over 600 million kids around the globe are receive an education. The reasons are multiple. Either they belong to a place where the concept of Education is looked down upon. For e.g.; in Asian and Middle East countries, educating a girl is still a taboo topic. They don’t allow young girls to learn about the world they live in fear of losing control over them. Similarly, poverty plays a humongous role. In countries like Mexico, Somalia and Burkina students are bound to discontinue their education due to lack of adequate resources.

Responsibilities on young shoulders lead children to a work life path rather than an educated one. The path leads to another horrific one, child labor. According to international surveys, over 32 million children are unable to continue their education due to peer pressure and financial strains. The sub-Saharan regions are deeply affected by marginalization. Luckily, there are amends being made and steps being taken to find a solution to children’s education problem all over the world.

To help you understand and learn were the globe stands on children’s education, we have gathered a list of countries and their best reforms.

Poland’s Polish Education System
Among the countries who have prioritized children’s education and made reforms that actually work, Poland deserves recognition. 12 year education, which begins at an adolescent age of 5 to 6 is mandatory in Poland. The education system in Poland is known as the Polish education system. The criteria and system is same for all schools. Including private as well as local schools.

Under the Polish Education System, tuition fee is free for all which makes it easy on parents from all backgrounds to provide their children with basic rights. The impressive part is that the fee is free even for foreign students. Each catchment area determines which student should get admission where. There are semi-private schools that ae partially funded by the govt. and such private institutions either cater to special needs or come under religious orders.

To assist students in their learning requirements, tutoring is a common practice in Poland. Young students also get a chance to earn money this way.  The literacy ratio in Poland is impressive compared to many other countries. It is 98.74%, which includes both male and female students. The country prioritizes education and sets an example for world to promote education for all.

United State Education Reforms
No country wants to have illiterate generations. Especially, when you are a state with over 19000 urban cities, villages and towns. The Columbian district is among the most thriving ones when it comes to improvising their education system. Finally after a long battle, a reform called Public Education Reform Amendment Act (PERAA) came into act. According to the reform the control of public schools was given to the mayor. This helped equalize the education system. Each child was given a standard education as per the PERAA act.

Another major reform that helped keep a check on PERAA is the Plan for Evaluating the District of Columbia’s Public Schools. The reform is in shape of a book and serves as a guideline or a code of conduct for the education system. Each year a report is made that investigates into the teaching methods, staff’s abilities and other important statistics to measure the effectiveness of PERAA.

Each student is provided basic knowledge which includes mathematics and general knowledge that helps them step into the world even if they choose not to continue their education because of whatever reason. Some kids start earning young by learning automobile skills. They learn how to install, replace and fix car parts. Advance Auto Parts is one such store that provides excellent quality parts for automobiles. You can use the 40% off Advance Auto coupons available at Mysavinghub for extended discounts on your purchase.

It is only through these reforms that the literacy rate in USA has reached 79%. Even today USA struggles to improvise their education system. According to the U.S News & World Report, USA stands first in countries for good education. Canada, UK and Germany are also a part of the list. UNICEF is working relentlessly to improve the educational systems in Asian countries as they have the lowest literacy rate and lack the understanding to let their children learn and get an education.
