History

St. Joseph’s School, Darjeeling was founded by Fr. Henri Depelchin in February, 1888, at Sunnybank, Darjeeling with 25 students enrolled. It was moved to its present location in 1892. Since then, the school has educated thousands of young men within the walls of its Quadrangle which include kings, diplomats, princes, ministers, scientists, writers, actors, industrialists and influencers. 

Academics

Following the CISCE curriculum, the aim of the founder is to help students discover the real meaning of education which is to become an agent of change. The students are groomed in a manner that they respect all cultures, languages and religions and above all recognise the unique image and likeness of the Creator in every individual.

Infrastructure

The 12 acre campus in the tranquil environment has all modern facilities and gives children an opportunity to learn while being close to the nature.

 The school Laboratory is a place where the scientific needs of each and every science loving student is fulfilled. From venire calipers to sulphuric acid to the dissection of animals- its all given to students for experimentation, but under the strict invigilation. 

The Smart Class, also known as the Digital Teaching System, (DTS) is a one-of-a kind innovation that bonds technology and knowledge. It makes the studies much more interesting with the help of video clips, modules and documentaries. Afternoon classes are made lively and students are keen on learning more.
