National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) is the one of the largest open schooling institute globally. However, NIOS cannot individually manage the enrollment of more than 13 lakh students with the multilingual diversity amid the different states. This has led to the evolution of State Open School (SOSs), where the responsibility of education is shared by eleven states and eight states are working on it. NIOS aided the development of the State Open Schools with technical support and expertise. The SOS admission process can be completed on the website www.nios.ac.inÂ
There are four streams for SOS admission which the learners can opt for based on their pace of learning. However, the learners can apply for only one of the streams. The first step for SOS admission is to register on the website, followed by reading the instructions and proceeding to select a state or Union Territory. In the next step, the learner has to select which identity type will be uploaded by him/her from the available options of :
– Aadhar Number
– Passport
– Ration Card
– Aadhar Enrolment ID
– Bank Account Number
– Birth Certificate
– ITI Registration Number
– DDU-GKY Token Registration Number
– Tejasvni Enrollment number
– Any other valid identity
Enter the details of the required number, which will subjected to verification. The Aadhar ID will be validated with the name of the learner from the UIDAI. In the next step of SOS admission process, the applicant has to choose the course from the options – Secondary and Senior Secondary and then proceed by clicking submit, after which the application will be displayed.
The application from for the SOS admission process will have four sections which comprises as follows:
– Basic Details
– Optional Details
– Selection of subjects
– Selection of Study Centre
The Basic Details include filling details like name of mother, father, date of birth, mobile number and email address, residential address, and other information. After submitting the details, an OTP is generated on email address and mobile number. Post verification of OTP, the residential address and social category. For the other information of the SOS admission process, upload a photograph, identity document and other details like the caste certificate, marks record of previous examinations, followed by optional details.
The next step in the SOS admission process would be selecting the study centre where a maximum of three preferences are given to the applicant. Further, the applicant should review the application form and make any changes in any details if required. Once the applicant is satisfied with the information, he/she can proceed to the last step of the SOS admission process of making payment by opting for the preferred payment gateway.
It is vital to remember that the application for the SOS admission can be rejected at the subsequent stages in the instances when the supporting documents are not uploaded, when any wrong or false information is filled and submitted, when an applicant hides any required information, educational qualifications and age criterion is not met or when the secondary exam is not conduced with a recognized board.
