Montfort Senior Secondary School was established in 1970. It is a co-educational unaided Catholic minority school run by the Society of the Brothers of St. Gabriel. Although it is a Christian institution, admission to the school is open to children of all religions. The society, which has its headquarters in Rome and zonal headquarters is in Bhopal, India, runs institutions in 33 countries worldwide. The society runs about 120 institutions including schools, technical training institutes, and orphanages, institutions for the differently abled (deaf, dumb and blind) and homes for the aged. The society is also engaged in rural development programs and other programs for empowering the urban poor through People’s Initiative Network and Preservation of Environment etc., under the nomenclature of St. Montfort, St. Gabriel, St. Francis, St. Charles etc.
The Montfortian mission is to help the young develop into upright, creative and loyal citizens imbued with love and concern for others, spiritual sensitivity and a sense of personal freedom; liberty of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship; equality of status and of opportunity and fraternity assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of nations. It envisions to enable the young to develop into a holistic personality and earn a living, and contribute to the economic, social, political and cultural progress of the nation.
The school is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi (CBSE). The medium of instruction is English and Hindi is taught as second language up to class X. Extracurricular: Counseling and Career Guidance Cell of the school aims at giving a personal touch to the education process. Parents are requested to interact with the counselors with prior appointment. This cell helps to monitor and give the right direction to children.
The School has a system of hobby- clubs which provide ample opportunities to encourage the children to utilize their creative energies and skills and develop their artistic talents in a particular field. The students are free to choose the club of their liking. However, once the selection is made, a further change will not be allowed.
