The Lawrence School – Sanawar, known as the first ever co- educational boarding school in the world, has made its presence felt remarkably with a glorious past and excellent student’s result in CBSE examination. Located in the foothills of Himalayas, Lawrence school has a record of maintaining a stress free learning high quality learning environment for its students.

History

The Lawrence School – Sanawar, established in 1847, situated at a height of 1750 metres, in dense forest of pine, deodar and other conifer trees, is the result of the vision of Sir Henry Lawrence, and his wife Honoria.

Sanawar is a co-educational boarding school, affiliated to CBSE and has students of various backgrounds from different parts of the sub-continent. It provides an environment that encourages a curious mind and gives students opportunities for expressing their creativity and building their skills.

Academics at Lawrence School

The prime focus of the school and its faculty is to mark its excellence in CBSE board exams and prepare their students for upcoming examinations for colleges and universities at home and abroad. To ensure the quality education, the school has established an Academic Council (AC) to monitor teaching and learning in the School, to set appropriate standards, formulate policies based on the best practices and to develop and improve curricular and co- curricular activities in the School. 

Infrastructure

Widely spread in 139 acres, the campus is designed keeping in mind the essentials required for the holistic growth of the child. The campus has a peaceful lush green environment which helps the students for better focus and learning. The school Library is a modern library. Entire library collection is computerized, bar-coded and searchable through OPAC using “Vidya” package. It is an integrated multi-user library management system that supports all in-house operations of the Library. 

Facilities at Lawrence School

There are separate dorms for boys and girls headed by matrons. The dorms are well lit and well ventilated to assure the comfort for the residents. Students are served with healthy balanced meals cooked at the school kitchen.   

The Lawrence school has a huge hospital, situated in one corner of the campus away from the boys and girls dorms. Medical staff including doctors and nurses is available day and night to ensure the good health of the students.  The school hospital has a minor operation theatre and an ambulance to handle the sensitive issues at the school.

Activity

Lawrence school offers each child an opportunity to participate in games or hobbies of his/her choice. The school offers a variety of hobbies and games like basketball, soccer, hockey, badminton, athletics and squash. The campus has huge playgrounds and gym facilities for both the students and the teachers. The gym is well equipped with modern equipment and trainers to help the students and the staff.

To ensure the excellence among its students The Lawrence Sanawar has launched a Leadership Programme. It is a value based programme, where students get the opportunity to learn and explore self-expressions and attain the leadership qualities.
