The New Education System emerges with an increased number of Education Board. A thorough analysis of the learning approach and evaluation criteria will enable parents to arrive at a conclusion. This article will help parents on the choice of best CBSE schools and the full form of CBSE is – Central Board of Secondary Education.

CENTRAL BOARD OF SECONDARY EDUCATION- CBSE

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is a national board of education in India for public and private schools. It is monitored and managed by the Union Government of India. There are approximately more than 20,000 schools in India and around 220 schools in more than 25 foreign countries affiliated to the CBSE. All schools affiliated to CBSE follow the NCERT curriculum. The main purpose of envisaging a body like CBSE is to grant affiliation to worthy schools. Any school which has been granted CBSE affiliation has to run operations according to the CBSE guidelines. These schools also have to follow the 10 + 2 system of curriculum of study as suggested by CBSE.

  1. Objective– ensures there are innovative teaching methods to provide stress-free education.
  2. Syllabus-emphasis on the use of NCERT books on which most of the National Entrance examinations are conducted.
  3. Examinations
  • AISSE– All India Secondary School Examination  Class -10
  • AISSCE– All India Senior School Certificate Examination – Class -12.

Admissions in CBSE school in India

The academic year in a CBSE school starts in April or June depending on the location. Each year the CBSE schools open doors to many new students. With limited seats and timelines of the process having professional counselors to support is a good idea.

Requirements;

  1. All identity documents of the child and parents is a must
  2. If the child has attended a school previously the transfer certificate and previous reports cards are important
  3. Proof of residence is another important document
  4. A general interaction with the school staff is a common practice in most CBSE schools
  5. While for higher grades certain CBSE schools take entrance tests as well

CBSE affiliation

The pre-affiliation norms apply for schools aspiring for a CBSE affiliation and the post-affiliation process applies to schools that are already inspected by the affiliation committee and their recommendations have been affirmative.

Notably, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is the national board of school education that has 27783 affiliated schools to date with a student count of 2 crores instructed by 70 lakhs teachers. I believe changes of such proportion in an enterprise like CBSE are bound to have noteworthy effects on education in India.

The revamped affiliation bye-laws October 2018, which came into effect, are expected to benefit many, not in the least the school promoters or edupreneurs who are seeking to start a school with CBSE affiliation.

  • CBSE provides affiliation to the schools within the country and abroad, the nomenclature used by CBSE for different types of affiliation is listed under –
  • Approval for Middle Class Syllabus which implies issuance of permission by the board to run the board’s curriculum till class VIII.
  • General Affiliation of a Secondary School or Senior Secondary School.
  • Upgradation of a school approved for Middle Class Syllabus up to Secondary or Senior Secondary Level.
  • Upgradation of an affiliated Secondary School up to Senior Secondary Level.
  • Switch over from Schools upto Secondary and Senior Secondary Level. Schools already affiliated with other Boards of education are granted affiliation to CBSE under this category.
  • Regular Affiliation of schools – One-time regular Affiliation will be granted to the schools run by Government and related societies like Central Schools, Navodaya Vidyalayas, Sainik Schools etc.

Technology and innovation in teaching methodology in CBSE

Education has been more or less constant for many years because change is considered risky and more prone to failure. But now that we are standing at the cusp of digital transformation and technology; education too is evolving to cater to the changing needs. It is this void that new age educationists aim to fill through the CBSE Curriculum based on life-skills.

However, this places high expectations on teachers and subject matter experts to be able to quickly pivot their mode of pedagogy and adopt a new one. At this stage, it is important to understand that every teacher will have to go through an unlearning curve to be able to transform oneself.

With CBSE also joining the bandwagon of change and introducing new age curriculum for the next generation students, teachers are monumental in being the medium through which this change successfully gets executed.

The role of the classroom teacher is extremely important in driving this massive change in the educational model. And thus it is important for every teacher out there to stay motivated and understand the new model and then put it into practice through everyday lesson plans.

What are CBSE results and how they indicate the school performance

The CBSE board results are a reflection of the school’s overall culture in terms of commitment to students’ performance & the support rendered to them and the commitment towards faculty development..

What is a Pass-percentage?

The pass percentage of the CBSE Board Examination results tells you the percentage of students who passed the examinations. While CBSE full form would have been somewhat understood by now, its important to understand what is a pass percentage. There are schools which have 100 % of the student’s passing.100% pass percentage means that each child’s learning gaps are assessed and on this basis, remedial teaching is provided to the children, focusing on individual needs and learning gaps. This also means that the teachers are adopting differential teaching methodologies to cater to children of different learning styles in a class. In totality this means that if your child studies in this given school, and if and when he would have any learning gaps, they would be addressed on individual basis.

What are distinctions?

This is an indicator of how far the CBSE School would go to ensure mastery over a given subject in a given class. This is a quality indicator on how well the teachers are trained to adopt strategies to enhance the students’ interest in a subject and in understanding individual learning differences. It also indicates the effectiveness of capacity building programmes conducted for teachers. For it is because of these Continuous Development Programmes for teachers that helps them hone the required skills.

What is the average score?

While we are talking about the CBSE full form it is important to know the scoring. This score is the average of the aggregate marks of each child. There could be a higher number of distinctions per subject. However, a high school average would mean that each child has scored good marks. The higher the school- average, the better each child has scored. This in turn reflects on the CBSE school’s efforts towards every single child’s performance.

What is percentile?

This score helps you assess how many children fall into specific percentage bars. For instance there are CBSE schools where the last percentile rank is 60% i.e. the last child who has passed the board exams has scored 60% marks in that school.

So, overall CBSE full form can be best understood by the explanation given here. The best CBSE schools are present across the country and even abroad. Cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune have some of the best CBSE schools.
