Birla Vidya Mandir- An excellent blended education

History of Birla Vidya Niketan

The school which in reality came into existence in July 1947 is the vision child of Bharat Ratna Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant – the renowned statesman and patriot. At the wake of the independence he was determined to have a public school for the future generation of India, in which love for the motherland and its heritage would constitute a major part of modern education imparted with the devotion and parental care of the Gurukuls of ancient India.

Academics

The school intakes admissions from Class 4 to Class 12. Though an English medium school, the ethos are absolutely Indian. Prayers in Sanskrit are held before every meal and students celebrate the festivals of India.

The school is affiliated to CBSE Delhi and is a member of Indian Public School’s Conference (IPSC), National Progressive Schools’ Conference(NPSC), CBSE Sahodaya School Complex and International Confederation of Principals (ICP).

Infrastructure

Birla Vidyamandir is situated in the town of Nainital, 330 km to the north east of Delhi in the famous Central Himalayan township of Nainital.

The campus is spread across a panoramic expanse of about 44.33 acres. Designed beautifully with academic blocks, laboratories, auditorium, hostels, dinning hall, work-shops, play-fields, gymnasium, skating rink, swimming pool, dispensary and staff residences.

Classes IV to VIII are in Junior School and onwards up to XII are in Senior School. 

There is a common dining hall where vegetarian, well balanced food is provided. 

A Medical Officer (MBBS) with paramedical crew is there to attend the routine cases.

Activities at Birla Vidya Niketan

The school has well-developed fields for football, cricket, tennis, basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis and several other sports. An elegant swimming pool is also there, along with a well equipped gymnasium and billiards room.

Regular PT is held every morning. PT and Games are compulsory for all students.

The Cultural Society organises Inter House Competition in dramatics, fancy dress dance and music. The Hindi and English Literary Societies have to their credit a number of activities like Inter-House Debates, Declamation Contests, Quiz Competition, G.K. Competitions, and Essay-Writing Competitions and a host of other literary activities.
